Professor Peter Kinderman

Professor Peter Kinderman is one of the most forward thinking and innovative psychologists of his generation. He is a practising clinical psychologist, registered with the HCPC and has held senior leadership positions in academia.

A former President of the British Psychological Society and twice Chair of the Division of Clinical Psychology, Professor Kinderman co-initiated the statutory regulation of psychologists, and authored the standards of proficiency across the profession. 

His 35 years’ experience in front-line mental health care ranges from acute inpatient work on psychiatric intensive care units to private therapy with high-net-worth and high-profile individuals, journalists and contributors to TV productions.

As a leader in psychological thought and practice, Professor Kinderman has given evidence to Select Committees on the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. He has also provided consultancy to what is now the Department to Health and Social Care in relation to Every Mind Matters and the impact of mental health due to Covid. 

He has made several television appearances himself, such as on BBC News and Mind over Marathon.
