Terms and conditions

Please reach us at info@kindermedia.co.uk if you have any further questions

1. Your booking

Your place is confirmed once payment has been received or alternative payment arrangements have been agreed with Kinder Media.

By making a booking, you agree to these terms and conditions.

Where you are booking online as a consumer, any statutory cancellation rights that apply to you are unaffected by these terms.

2. 14-day cancellation period

Where applicable, consumers booking online have a statutory 14-day cancellation period beginning on the day after the contract is made.

If you book a course, supervision or other service that is due to begin during this 14-day period, we may ask you to expressly request that Kinder Media begins providing the service before the cancellation period has ended.

Where services have begun at your request during the cancellation period, your cancellation rights may be affected and you may be required to pay for services already provided. Once a service has been fully provided, you may lose your statutory right to cancel where the legal requirements for this have been met.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.

3. Training cancellations

If you need to cancel or are unable to attend training, you must notify Kinder Media by email as soon as possible. Your cancellation will take effect from the date we receive your notification.

Subject to any applicable statutory cancellation rights, our standard cancellation terms are:

  • More than 21 days before the course: no cancellation charge.
  • 14–21 days before the course: 50% of the course fee.
  • Fewer than 14 days before the course: 100% of the course fee.
  • Non-attendance without prior notification: 100% of the course fee.

Where appropriate, cancellation charges may be reduced to reflect any reduction in our loss, including where we are able to fill your place.

4. Transfers to another course

Transfers are not an automatic entitlement.

Where circumstances prevent you from attending your booked course, Kinder Media may, at its discretion and subject to availability, offer you a place on the next available delivery of the same or an equivalent course instead of applying the relevant cancellation charge.

Where a transfer is offered, it will normally be to the next available course. Any further transfer is at Kinder Media's discretion.

For Media Practitioner Pro and the Foundation Track, if you are unable to attend one of the courses included within your programme, we may offer you the opportunity to complete that element on the next available course date.

Any transferred course place should normally be used within 12 months of the original course date unless otherwise agreed by Kinder Media.

Failure to attend without notifying Kinder Media will not automatically qualify for a transfer, replacement course or refund.

5. Media Practitioner Pro and Foundation Track

Media Practitioner Pro and the Foundation Track comprise a package of separate training courses.

Where you are unable to attend an individual component, this does not automatically entitle you to cancel or receive a refund for the remainder of the programme. Where appropriate, Kinder Media may offer an alternative date for the affected component in accordance with the transfer arrangements above.

Media Practitioner Pro also includes a 12-month specialist supervision programme.

6. Specialist supervision

Media Practitioner Pro includes a 12-month specialist supervision programme, normally comprising a 90-minute supervision session every six weeks.

The supervision programme is considered to have commenced once the first supervision session has taken place.

Once the supervision programme has commenced, fees relating to the supervision programme are non-refundable, subject to any statutory rights that apply.

Supervision sessions are arranged in advance. If you need to reschedule a session, you must provide at least 48 hours' notice. Where sufficient notice is provided, an alternative session will be arranged subject to availability.

Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with fewer than 48 hours' notice, or sessions not attended without notice, will normally be treated as used and will not automatically be replaced.

Where exceptional circumstances arise, Kinder Media may, at its discretion, agree an alternative arrangement.

All supervision sessions should normally be used within the agreed 12-month supervision period unless an extension has been agreed by Kinder Media.

7. Independently arranged supervision

Participants choosing the Foundation Track are responsible for arranging their own supervision.

Kinder Media recommends that supervision is provided by a suitably qualified professional with considerable relevant experience of psychological practice within television and media.

Peer supervision can be valuable, but supervision between practitioners who are themselves developing their experience within media should not be regarded as equivalent to specialist supervision from an experienced practitioner.

8. Professional responsibility

Kinder Media training is intended to develop knowledge and skills relevant to psychological practice within media. Completion of training does not, by itself, establish competence to undertake every form of media work.

Participants remain responsible for practising within the limits of their own professional competence, qualifications and experience, meeting the requirements of their professional or regulatory bodies, and obtaining appropriate supervision where required.

9. Professional standards and support into media work

Kinder Media is committed to promoting high professional standards in psychological practice within media. Our training is designed to help practitioners develop the specialist knowledge, contextual understanding and professional support needed to work effectively within production environments.

Completion of an individual Kinder Media course or the Foundation Track provides relevant professional development but does not make a participant eligible for Kinder Media's support into production work.

Kinder Media will only consider providing further support towards gaining production experience or work to practitioners who have completed all elements of Media Practitioner Pro, including the required training and specialist supervision.

Completion of Media Practitioner Pro does not guarantee employment, paid work, a placement or any particular production opportunity. Any support into work, introductions or opportunities are provided at Kinder Media's discretion and will take account of the practitioner's professional qualifications, competence, experience, conduct and suitability for the particular work.

Kinder Media reserves the right not to recommend, introduce or support a practitioner for production work where we do not consider this appropriate or consistent with our professional standards.

10. Cancellation or changes by Kinder Media

Occasionally, circumstances may require us to change the date, format, trainer or other arrangements for a course or supervision session.

Where reasonably possible, we will offer an appropriate alternative.

If Kinder Media cancels a course and is unable to offer a suitable alternative, fees paid for the cancelled course will be refunded.

Kinder Media is not responsible for travel, accommodation or other incidental costs incurred in connection with attendance, except where required by law.

11. Training content, resources and intellectual property

All Kinder Media training content, course frameworks, models, exercises, resources and other materials used or provided as part of our training and supervision remain the intellectual property of Kinder Media and/or the relevant content creator unless otherwise stated.

Participants may receive supporting resources as part of their training. The nature and format of these resources may vary between courses and programmes. Participation in a course does not entitle participants to receive copies of presentation slides, facilitator materials or other materials used in the delivery of the training unless these are specifically provided.

Any resources provided to participants are for their own personal professional learning and development. They must not be copied, reproduced, distributed, published, shared with others, sold, uploaded online, adapted for commercial purposes or used to provide training to others without prior written permission.

Attendance at training does not transfer ownership of, or grant any wider rights to use, Kinder Media's intellectual property.

Participants must not audio-record, video-record, photograph or otherwise reproduce training or supervision sessions without prior permission from Kinder Media.

12. Questions, cancellations and changes to your booking

If you need to cancel a booking, request a transfer, reschedule a supervision session or discuss any aspect of your booking, please contact Kinder Media at:

Please include your name, the course or programme booked and sufficient information for us to identify your booking.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
